About the project

The main objective of the AIDED project is to make language education more effective and inclusive by promoting the Task Based Language Teaching (TBLT) method – a strategy based on real-life tasks, rather than bare theory and grammar exercises. The project uses the potential of AI to offer solutions to common challenges in language education, dealing with task design and providing personalized learning experiences. The overall goal is to empower teachers with tools and strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners, including disadvantaged groups.

Objectives:

  • Empowering Teachers: To introduce educators to AI tools that facilitate task design, assessment, and feedback processes, while providing professional development for effective AI integration.
  • Improving Learning Outcomes: To provide students with personalized, engaging tasks that raise their foreign language communication skills and foster collaborative problem-solving abilities.
  • Enhancing Equity and Inclusion: To meet the diverse needs of learners through adaptive experiences tailored to individual levels and learning styles, with a specific focus on disadvantaged students.
  • Contributing to Digital Transformation: To support schools in adopting AI practices that align with the EU’s Digital Education Action Plan and develop a viable model for integrating AI into school language education.

Main results:

  • Teacher’s Guide: A structured resource introducing language teachers to task based learning principles, relevant AI tools, and practical strategies for integration.
  • Online Course: An interactive course featuring modules on using AI for task design, personalized learning, real-time feedback, and assessment.
  • Case Studies: Comprehensive documentation of successful AI-assisted TBLT implementations across partner schools, highlighting diverse classroom contexts and challenges addressed.
